A Comparison Among Electric Floor Heating Materials

Electric heating film structure
The top and bottom surfaces are PET (polyethylene terephthalate) or PVC film. The middle layer is carbon ink printed circuits in parallel. Both sides of the film are copper carrier strips for heating film connection. There is no shielding layer or ground wire.

Performance
The power for each sheet of electric heating film is different, but it should be above 20 W. The power error is 20 %. The surface temperature is higher than 65 ℃.

Advantages
This product is very thin, offers fast heating, and can apply heat to large area.

Disadvantages
With no electromagnetic shielding layer, the product has static electricity hazard. Other disadvantages include multiple connectors, difficult laying, large power error, electric attenuation, electric leakage, and more.

Carbon crystal plate structure
The main composition of carbon crystal plate is similar to that of the electric heating film. It is made by carbon particles through pouring. Plates are connected in parallel. There is no shielding layer or ground wire.

Performance
Each carbon crystal plate has different power, and the power error is 20 %. The power for each plate is higher than 120 W, and the surface temperature is above 65 ℃.

Advantages
Large heating area, fast temperature rise

Disadvantages
This product has no electromagnetic shielding layer, and static electricity hazard is unavoidable. It also has such disadvantages as multiple connectors, large power error, electric attenuation, and electric leakage. The plate thickness of 6 to 10mm makes installation difficult.

Carbon fiber cable structure
The carbon fiber is glass fiber coated with carbon powder.
It has Teflon or PVC jacket, without shielding layer and ground wire. Parallel connection is usually used. 

Performance
The power error of carbon fiber cable
is within 10 %. The power is 14 W per meter. The surface temperature is more than 45 ℃.

Advantages
Large heating area, fast temperature rise

Disadvantages
With no electromagnetic shielding layer, the product has static electricity hazard. Multiple connectors, difficult laying, large power error, electric attenuation, and electric leakage are some other advantages the cable has.

Senphus dual conductor dual heating cable
The cable adopts two CuNi alloy wires to heat simultaneously. The heating power of each wire is 9 W/m, so the power of the cable is 18 W/m. The product consists of aluminum foil shielding layer, 8 tinned copper wires for grounding, crosslinked polyethylene insulation, and PVC jacket.

Performance
The power error of Senphus cable is within 3 %, and there is no power attenuation. The surface temperature is not higher than 65 ℃. One cable can be enough for the whole room without cutting or joining. Advantages
The current acting on two alloy conductors generates radiation reaction force to counteract the electromagnetic field. During this time, the electromagnetic field in the radiation coupling state, coupled with aluminum foil, allows realization of shielding. Eight tinned copper wires for grounding help eliminate static electricity. The electromagnetic field is available in multiple directions. The electromagnetic radiation of Senphus dual conductor dual heating cable is within 0.7 mG in the horizontal and longitudinal tests. When measured at a distance of 20 cm from the ground, the ground power density is 180 W/㎡. And the radiation is 0.2 mG when measured at a distance of 1 m from the ground. The International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA) takes 0.1 mT as the admissible value of magnetic flux density for people exposed to radiation all day. 0.1 mT is equal to 1 mG. This means our cable product is safe to use.

Disadvantages
It has relatively slower heating rate than electric heating film, carbon crystal plate.
